French author-gangster-thief faces trial for money laundering

The robbery at Societe Generale branch in Nice on the French Riviera, which is popularly known as “heist of century”, is one of the most successful robberies ever executed in the Europe.

Many writers and film directors have used the story of the infamous robbery to create exceptional books and movies.

It was in the year 2010 gangster Jacques Cassandri made the confession about his involvement in the robbery crime through his book.

Though his confession gained wide attention among the people, the authorities could not take legal action against the gangster, as the confession was made at a time when he could no longer be tried for the robbery.

The issue’s new developments indicate that the unconditional support of ‘luck factor’ is no longer with the thief-gangster.

Nearly forty-two years after the incident, a court functioning in the country has put the gangster on trial for money laundering.

The prosecutors have claimed that the gangster turned writer is still enjoying the wealth wristed through the crime.

Anyway, the old gangster, denouncing the money laundering changes charged against him, has claimed that he only received a little money from the infamous crime and he spend the money instantly.

Until now, no person has been directly punished by the court for the infamous ‘heist of century’.

Several years ago, a person was arrested in connection with the crime. But, he escaped from the custody and died in exile.
