French policeman Lt-Col Arnaud Beltrame, who literally saved several innocent lives from an Islamic Militant who besieged a supermarket, has succumbed to the injuries he suffered while trying to neutralise the terrorist.
Apart from the policeman, at least three people has been killed and several others injured in the gunman’s shooting spree.
The French government authorities, which have identified the attack as an ‘act of terrorism’, has appreciated the braveness demonstrated by the policeman during the operation to save the hostages held by the terrorist in the supermarket.
Expressing their sadness loudly, the government representatives have asserted that the country would not forget the brave effort taken by Lt-Col Beltrame.
As per a report, the attack has been carried out demanding the release of a terrorist who committed the infamous Paris attack which killed more than one hundred innocent people.
The attacker is a known criminal to the French police. And, he has also been under the scanner of the French Intelligence for his attachment with a radical Muslim outfit.
He earlier faced several jail terms for crimes ranging from ‘drug use’ to ‘illegal procession of weapon’.
However, the investigation into the case of the latest supermarket attack is said to be progressing in the right direction.
