FSB accuses Russian minister of corruption

The Russian internal FSB security service accused the Russian economy minister, Alexei Ulyukayev, of corruption. As per the report, the minister received nearly two million US dollars as a bribe from an oil conglomerate. It is learned that he laid unnecessary obstacles before the company purposefully during an accusation, and forced the company to pay a huge bribe in order to get rid of the issue. Anyway, the minister pleaded not guilty to the charges registered against him in the court.According to the information, if he is found guilty he will have to face a fifteen-year-long imprisonment.

Notably, it is said that the Russian supremo, Vladimir Putin, directly monitored the developments of the case in order to weed out the corrupted elements.Mr Ulyukayev is a renowned economist. In 2004, he had been appointed as the deputy chairman of the Russian central bank. Later, in 2013, he had been inducted as the economy minister.Anyway, a Russian court decided to place the minister under house arrest over the issue until mid-January.However, it seems that the Russian supremo has lost trust in his economy minister. He dismissed Mr Ulyukayev, and appointed the Ulyukayev’s deputy, Yevgeny Yelin, as the economy minister.A Russian website reported that the authorities do not procure any concrete evidence stating Mr Ulyukayev has taken bribe from an oil conglomerate. They further reported that the investigative officials mostly collected indirect evidence and documents.Mr Ulyukayev strongly denounced all allegations triggered against him by the Russian investigators.
