India inks ‘defence cooperation deal’ with Jordan

The Indian representative has inked a crucial defence cooperation deal with the Jordan King, King Abdullah II, who has reached the national capital for a brief visit.

Experts say that strategically the cooperation between India and Jordan is very good and extremely useful for both nations.

It is the first time that the Arab country and the world’s largest democracy have signed such a cooperation agreement.

As part of the deal, both countries will improve cooperation in certain vital defence segments such as defence training, counter-terrorism, defence industry, cyber security, military studies, military medicinal services and, even, peace keeping.

As per the latest updates, the cyber security is the military segment which is likely to get more attention from both countries than other segments in the future as both countries are in an urgent need for such a development at this moment.

India has a very good relation with Jordan. In the past, the India military forces has several times cooperated with the Jordan military, which is one of the most powerful and advanced military forces in the volatile Middle East region.

In the year 1991, the Jordan force was the one which helped India to evacuate its citizens trapped in the midst of Iraq War. In the recent past also, the Jordan force helped India in a similar evacuation operation executed in Iraq and Syria.
