IT conducts raid in the properties of Quint founder

The Income Tax department has conducted raid in the properties of Quit founder Raghav Bahl and several other persons closely associated with the media baron.

It is said that the raids have been conducted in connection with the tax evasion case registered against the media tycoon and some others closely connected with the business he runs.

At this moment, it remains unclear whether the IT has recovered anything substantial potential enough to implicate the media giant and his close associates in the case probed by the tax department.

The raids have invited huge criticism. There are allegations that it has been a politically motivated move intended to taint the image of the media businessman who holds a significant position in the Indian media sector.

Mr Bahl is also the founder of Network 18. He is considered as the most influential person in the Indian media sector.

Given these facts, it is important to give a satisfactory explanation to the Income Tax department’s raids by the ruling government as the department comes under the government and often acts, as per an allegation, at the behest of the ruling government.
