As the taint, which appeared on former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in the form of ‘tax crime’ and ‘sex crime’, has gradually reached an end, the country has loudly blown a welcome signal to the veteran leader in the form of a ‘regional election victory’.
Mr Berlusconi has established a center-right collision before the commencement of the Sicily regional election, the election in which the ruling centre-left and anti-establishment Five Star Movement has engaged in a severe political tug-of-war.
Giving surprise to all the political observers, who have been eagerly waiting to watch the triumph of the anti-establishment party since the declaration of the election, the faction, which Mr. Berlusconi has formed, has aggressively marched into the centre stage of Italian politics pushing the other two parties aside.
The Brothers of Italy and Northern League are the two prime right-wing parties, which have joined hands with Berlusconi’s Forza Italia Party to make the emergence of a new centre-right faction a reality.
A convict, Mr Berlusconi is not allowed by the country’s constitution to participate in the election.
Anyway, in coming days, he is likely to gain favourable verdicts from concerned courts to remove the constraints, which restrict him from participating in the Prime Ministerial election which is going to take place next year.
