“Finally, it has happened. The Indian farmers have come out openly to express their dissatisfaction,” says a leftist.
At least fifteen thousand farmers, led by the All Indian Kisan Sabha, have reached Maharashtra. The protesters have many demands, from farm loan waivers, to forest land ownership. But, it seems that they are very particular about one thing that they will not go back to their farmland until and unless there problems are solved.
Their plan is to surround the state assembly. Anyway, as a last resort, before the execution of their plan, their representatives are likely to meet the government representatives at 2 pm today afternoon.
The city dwellers, who are naturally unaware about the farmers’ distress and the numerous challenges the creators often undergo to feed the tummy of the country, in a surprising manner, have welcomed the farmers into their territory happy; some city dwellers have even provided food and water to the farmers who have travelled a long distance by barefoot to express their grievances.
Farmers are the back born of all nations. It is necessary that the concerned governments take adequate measures to safeguard and protect them. The growing number of farmer suicides in India indicates our country has failed in that front.
Will the Maharashtra farmers rally be a new beginning?
