Maoist losing strength: Govt Data

hgfdi

A document released by the Union Home Ministry indicates the Maoist force operating in the country is losing strength day by day.

The deterioration in the strength of the anti-national force is attributed to the organisation’s inability to attack new recruits, its ageing top leadership, the prevalence of corrupted leaders on the top, the attrition of its cadres, and the growing presence of security forces and counter-attack forces in the regions where the Maoists traditionally enjoy upper hand.

In the year 2017, only 857 Left-Wing Extremism incidents were reported in the country; it was the first time in the modern history the number stood below one thousand points. In the year 2016, as many as 1048 LWE incidences were reported in the country. Anyway, comparatively, the year 2017 was more peaceful than the year 2016 and the year before the year 2016.

For last few years, the country has been witnessing a trend of steady fall in the total number of LWE incidents.

Some observers claim that the sharp reduction in the number of LWE incidents is the result of the new strategy adopted by the left-wing extremists. They believe that the leftist rebels would lie low until it reaches a point favorable enough for them to mark a comeback.
