Myanmar President Htin Kyaw, who is one of the close allies of the country’s de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi, has stepped down from his post.
At this moment, it is not clear why the president has resigned from the post leaving the de facto leader alone to fight the political turbulence which is jolting the political platform of the country.
Some local media outlets functioning in the Asian region have reported that the resigned president has some health problems. As per their report, he has recently lost weight unusually and suffered multiple heart-related issues.
The official page of the president has publicised that the country’s ruling party would appoint a new President within a time frame of seven days.
Mr Kyaw was originally selected for the post by Ms Suu Kyi to rule, on behalf of her, under her state counsellor post, which she herself created and assumed, as the country’s constitution, which was created by the military, is barring the de facto leader, who have married an foreigner, to assume the post of the supremo.
The resigned president has stood firmly with the de facto leader throughout his term as the ceremonial supremo, even in the time when Ms Suu Kyi had to face severe criticism from the world leaders, who once praised her and felicitated with the prestigious Noble Peace Prize, due to her silence in the Rohingya issue.
