Nation celebrates ‘First Anniversary of Note Ban’ Today

Last year, on November 8, the nation witnessed a terrible tremor in the form of a historic announcement made by our charismatic Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. The note ban, which was announced in a surprise public appearance, was branded as an effort to eliminate black money from the economy.

The long queues of customers (that is our innocent citizens) which appeared in front of the banks and ATMs for exchanging the demonetised notes with new notes and for withdrawing money were the prime aftereffects of demonetisation.

Anyway, the greater good, which was assured by the top personalities who run the administration, helped those who conceived the ambitious policy to overcome the criticisms.

Today, when the country is celebrating its first anniversary, all those people who supported and all who opposed the policy unanimously ask ‘what the nation has exactly gained from the months-long inconveniences suffered by the innocent citizens.

By terming the ‘Demonetisation Day’ as the ‘Black Day’, the Congress is trying to use the opportunity it has received to criticise the ruling regime. On the other hand, the BJP is trying to reinstate the feeling, in the mind of innocent people, that the move was aimed at eliminating the black money by observing it as an ‘Anti-Black Money Day’.

The fact is that none of these political moves helps the poor to find an answer to the disturbing questions which have been resonating in their mind since the announcement of demonetisation.
