In what could be considered as one of the biggest victories of the special police team over the Maoists, nearly twenty-four Maoists, including eleven women, were reportedly killed by the police forces in an encounter attack in Malkangiri district near Andhra-Odisha border.As per the report, a joint team of Andhra police and Odisha police conducted this dangerous encounter operation.It is learned that at least two officers belonging to the special police force were injured during the operation. Unfortunately, one of them later died in the hospital.
The special police force tactically planned and executed this confidential operation successfully, as it received an authentic tip off from the intelligence authorities regarding a Maoist meeting.A senior Maoist leader Ramakrishnan alias RK was expected to attend the Maoist meeting along with other senior leaders. It was said to be a crucial plenary meeting.Anyway, it is confirmed that the senior leaders including the infamous RK tactically escaped from the venue, but RK’s son was reportedly killed in the encounter attack.It is said that the violent confrontation between the Maoist and police force took place near the meeting venue.A media report confirmed that nearly sixty Maoists participated in the plenary meeting held in the village.The report added that some advanced weapons like Ak-47 and SLRs have been recovered by the special police force from the encoder spot.The police forces strongly believe that it will be a big blow to the ailing Maoist force.
