Netherland likely to become India’s prime partner in EU

Unlike the general perception that the Brexit would adversely affect India’s relation with EU, the latest statement by Ambassador of Netherlands Alphonsus Stoeling gives a feeling that the Brexit might give some good to India. The ambassador asserts that his country is interested in developing a close relation with India. He claims that post-Brexit Europe is the most suitable period for both countries to explore the possibilities of the bilateral relation. The ambassador has expressed his country’s intention to invest in the rampantly growing South Asian economy. It seems that Netherland is well aware of the South Asian region’s potential and India’s ability to transform into the most stable economy of the region.

The Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, is set to visit Netherlands on June 27, 2017. He will meet his Netherland counterpart Mark Rutte on the same day to discuss several matters related to the bilateral relations. India is likely to ink several deals including those related to cultural relations and trade. Observers say that both countries should show more interest in developing new channels for the diplomacy and trade relations if they are serious about developing a productive bilateral relationship. They add that India should find a promising partner from among the European Countries in the near future in order to survive in the post-Brexit era. Observers add that Germany can do more good than what Netherlands can gift to India because Amsterdam’s economic strength is not as powerful as Berlin’s.
