Staying intact on her earlier statement that the security forces and Buddhist mobs did not unleash violence against the Rohingya Muslims in the Rakhine villages, the Nobel Peace Prize laureate, Aung San Suu Kyi, has invited the foreign diplomats to visit the Myanmar’s conflict-hit villages.
The unexpected breakout of violence in the Rakhine villages in the aftermath of the Rohingya militants’ attack on the Burmese security installations in the state has badly tainted the image of Ms. Suu Kyi, which is regarding as the glowing symbol of eastern democracy by the West.
The outbreak of the violence has prompted nearly four-lakh Rohingya Muslims to flee their homes and to seek shelter in the neighbouring countries such as Bangladesh.
Putting the Suu Kyi government in a defenceless state, several world leaders have condemned the violence and called for peace in the region.
Experts say that Ms. Suu Kyi is an ambitious political leader so she is not willing to lose her mass support among the Buddhist voters by unnecessary interfering in the Rohingya-Buddhist issue, which actually has no solution unless and until any of them put sincere effort to find one such solution.
Experts add that as far as Ms. Suu Kyi is concerned, her first priority will be the political stability of her country, which has not yet liberated from the clutches of the remnants of the erstwhile military regime.
