Pirate Party marks huge gains in Iceland elections

Promising a new era of political transparency, the youngest political organisation of Iceland, Pirate party, has marked astounding election gains in the Iceland elections. As per the report, the party tripled its representation in the parliament by gaining nearly ten seats in the sixty-three member parliament. It is learned that the governing Progressive Party suffered a huge loss. It lost a considerable amount of seats. Anyway, the Independent Party came top by grabbing nearly twenty-one seats. But, they cannot create a government independently as it fell short of a majority to create a government. According to the preliminary report, there are feeble chances to form a Pirate-Independent collision. Meanwhile, the political experts opined that we cannot spike out any possibilities completely. Earlier, Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson had to step down from the top post after the Panama paper leakage which revealed his off shore account. After the Sigmundur’s resignation, Sigurdur Ingi Johannsson had been inducted as the new Prime Minister in late April. However, the Panama leakage badly affected the government and governing party. The opposition parties, particularly the Pirate Party, used that weapon extensively. Political transparency, free health care, political accountability, and social security were the main offers offered by the Pirate Party during the election campaign. Anyway, some critics opined that the Pirate Party and its members do not have adequate experience. If they are given an opportunity to head the administration, they will lead us to more economic troubles, they added.
