On the seventieth death anniversary of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, popularly known as Mahatma Gandhi, the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, has paid respect to the father of nation.

Apart from the Indian Prime Minister, President Ram Nath Kovind has also reached Rajghat, the place where the memorial dedicated to the father of nation is located, to pay respect to the man who gifted freedom from the decades-old oppression of the colonial British rule to the Indians.

Similar commemoration ceremonies have been organised across the state to pay respect to this legend.

The man, who was the symbol of non-violence, was brutally killed by a senseless man, named Nathuram Godse, on this day around seventy years before.

He was the true leader of the freedom movement led by the Indian National Congress. His prime ideology -non-violence- was what gifted the country the strength to fight against the mighty colonel power. He was the one who consolidated all those factions fighting against the colonel rules in a single platform.

The fact is that his ideologies got acceptance, not only in the country, but also around the world. The non-violence ideologies or its various forms have been adopted by several political organisations as their prime ideology.
