Giving the Communist Cuba extreme sadness, the Cuban revolution star and former President of the country, Fidel Castro, died at the age of 90.The sad news regarding the death of the Communist hero was publicised by the Cuban President and Fidel Castro’s brother, Raul Castro, itself. In an unexpected broadcast, the President told the nation that Castro had died and would be cremated on Saturday. There would be several days of national mourning in the country, reported the International Media. The report added that the people already fell into a sorrow filled mood. The preponderance of the shops and small trading centres is closed after hearing the sad news, the report further added.
The Communist hero was born in Oriente Province of Cuba in 1926. During his initial stage of the revolution, he was imprisoned by the Batista regime for revolting against the nation. After his release, Castro along with Che Guevara demonstrated a powerful guerrilla attack and ousted the Batista regime, which was supported by the US army. In 1959, he became the Prime Minister of Cuba. He successfully defended several attacks and escaped numerous assassination efforts. He transformed Cuba into a bastion of communism and strongest ally of Soviet Union. In 1976, he was elected as the President of the Communist Cuba. Throughout the cold war era, the Castro’s Cuba was a thorn in the US’s eyes. Notably, the Cuban refugee agreement was one of the most successful deals that the Castro’s Cuba made with the US. Interestingly, even after the Soviet disintegration, the Cuban government under Castro consciously protected and preserved the communist culture adopted by the Latin American nation. In 2006, Castro temporarily handed the power to his brother. Around two years later, Raul Castro became the President of Cuba.
