The United Russia party supported by the Russian President, Vladimir Putin, has secured an astounding victory in the Russian parliamentary elections.The URP was formed in late December 2001. It does not have any proper political ideologies. So, it is widely known as catch-all party. The non-ideological voters are its main target group.Now, in the elections, it secured nearly fifty-four percent of the total votes. It effortlessly won around three hundred and forty-three seats of nearly four hundred and fifty seats.Meanwhile, it is said that the turnout, this time, was very low. Only forty-seven per cent people turned up for casting vote. It is nearly thirteen per cent lower than the last election’s turnout.As per the data, nearly sixty per cent voters participated in the 2011 parliamentary elections.
Anyway, the United Russia party has grabbed a slight improvement in their vote percentage compared with the 2011 election. Earlier, in 2011, the vote percentage was nearly forty-nine per cent. Now, it has successfully gained nearly five per cent more.Notably, the Russia’s largest party has mercilessly shattered its opponents completely. Its nearest competitors were the communist party and nationalist LDRP. Both parties only secured thirteen per cent votes.It is learned that some irregularities and malpractices were reported in certain regions of the country.As per the report, the election commission has announced re-election in at least three constituencies.However, the Russian supremo reaffirmed his top position after the election result. The result mostly exposes the growing popularity and acceptance of the Russian supremo.The supremo has enjoyed around seventeen years in power as either Prime Minister or President. Still, Putin is the most powerful leader of Russia. The undisputed victory again exposes the well-known fact that the Russian chief would enjoy uninterrupted power for many years to come.
