The Supreme Court of India has strongly criticised the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu government for their failure to stop violence erupted after its sensational verdict over the Cauvery issue.The court reportedly observed that some fringe groups are utilizing the opportunity to disturb the law and order. It further clarified that the violent protests and agitations perpetrated by these anti-socials would serve no purpose.In addition, the court firmly stated that it is the duty of the state governments to protect the law and order.Unfortunately, a group of agitators allegedly attacked several houses near Kanakapura road. A report published in a national media says that a group of agitators molested a teenage girl.
A formal complaint regarding the incident has been registered in the Subramanya Police Station.Notably, the police officials have taken action quickly. Based on the complaint, nearly seven youngsters have been arrested by the Subramanya police.It is learned that the Tamil Nadu trade unions have called for a bandh on today. It is said that the bandh may affect the normal live of the people negatively.Seeking protection of the Kannadigas living in Tamil Nadu, the Karnataka Chief Minister, Siddaramaiah has written an official letter to the TN CM, J Jayalalithaa.However, it is the high time to find an amicable solution to the Cauvery water issue. The political parties should not use this opportunity for the political gains.
