For the last few months, those who have not yet shared the Aadhaar numbers with the banks and the mobile service providers have been receiving messages advising them to submit their Aadhaar numbers to their respective banks and mobile service providers at the earliest.
The messages and repeated advise from the bank officials and mobile service providers have created a sense of confusion, in the society, among those who have not yet applied for the Aadhaar card or number.
Anyway, it seems that the Supreme Court, which recently ruled the privacy as an integral part of the fundamental rights ensured by the Indian constitution, is likely to find a solution to this issue in the near future.
It is learned that the Supreme Court of India is set to hear the petition seeking the removal of the government policy, which is compelling the citizens to link the Aadhaar numbers to the bank accounts and the phone numbers.
The petition challenging the central government’s Aadhaar policy has been submitted by Dr Kalyani Menon Sen.
The petitioner claims that the government policy violets the fundamental rights and the Aadhaar (Targeted Delivery of Financial and Other Subsidies, Benefits and Services) Act 2016.
