Senior JD(U) leader Uday Narayan Chaudhary resigns from party

Giving a serious blow to the JD(U) leader and Bihar Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, senior party leader Uday Narayan Chaudhary, who for the party held several powerful positions such as the State Assembly Speaker, has resigned from his party.

The Dalit leader, who enjoys a considerable support among the Dalit population of the state, has indirectly alleged that the newly formed JD(U) and BJP alliance is less sensitive towards the issues faced by the community he belongs (Dalit).

He has cited the new alliance’s silence over the sensitive issues like the move to revoke the Dalit student scholarship program, the controversy surrounding the SC/ST Atrocities Act, the uncertainty prevailing in the Dalit reservation policies and the raising atrocities against Dalits, to justify his move to quit the party, in which he has been sincerely working for last two decades.

While announcing his decision, he has indirectly warned the party he has ditched that in the coming days more high profile resignations would take place in the JD(U).

A national media has reported a trustworthy source has informed them that he resigned leader would join the RJD, with which he has established a good relation lately, within days or hours.

Will this resignation make any impact in the BJP’s strategy to win Dalits’s trust in the election bound states?
