Denouncing the Catalan government’s independence referendum, the Spanish government, which expressed serious disagreement with their Barcelonan counterpart over their move to nourish the evil ideology of separatism, has dismissed the lawmaking body of its highly autonomous province, and, subsequently, called a snap election.
The Spanish government’s decision has been officially publicised by Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy.
The Spanish supremo has also expelled the President of the Government of Catalonia, Carles Puigdemont, and other members of Puigdemont’s cabinet.
Earlier, the majority of the voters who participated in the Catalan referendum voted in favour of the independence move.
Last day, when the subject was put to vote, the preponderance of the lawmakers supported the independence.
Later, soon after the voting process in the parliament, the Catalan Parliament unilaterally declared the independence of Catalonia without seeking any advice from the central authority, the Spanish government.
It is said that these political developments which took place in the recent past have left the central authority with only one option: the dismissal of the regional parliament and government of Catalonia.
Catalonia is one of the richest regions in Spain in all sense. Many Catalans believe that what they receive in terms of economic assistance, political representation, power and respect is very less compared to what they give to their central authorities.
