Sri Lankan PM’s visit to India triggers fresh hope

Gifting some fresh homes to the Indo-Lankan relation, the Sri Lankan Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, is set to visit India next week. Even though it is said to be a private visit, the Sri Lankan supremo will meet the political executives of our country in order to deliberate several issues ranging from trade to technology. The visit is crucial as it comes days before the Sri Lankan scheduled visit to China. There are reports that Sri Lankan has joined the One Belt and One Road program introduced by China and its representative is going to attend the OBOR summit scheduled to take place in Beijing.

Exposing the flaws of the Indian foreign relation policies particularly the relation with the neighbouring countries, the Chinese government has pocketed several infrastructural projects in the Sri Lankan region. It is said that India still hopes to get some projects in the North and the East region of the Island which was a good friend of our country and had several times enjoyed the support of our defence force in the past. A national daily reports that India and Sri Lanka have reached the final stage of discussion regarding some productive projects and are expected to ink some MOU soon. Anyway, it is the high time to create a feasible solution in the Palk Strait issue. The fishermen of India as well as Sri Lanka are facing the adverse effects of this issue every day.
