Story of a “Selfie” that helped to resolve a crime

Cheyenne Rose Antoine and Brittney Gargol were friends. Around two years ago, Gargol was found strangled to death. The investigators found Antoine was with her at the time the murder took place. Later, Antoine was booked on charges of murder.

The twist in the story is that though the murderer confessed her involvement in the crime, she could not exactly recount what actually happened that day as both –the culprit and victim- were high on marijuana at the time the incident happened.

The fact is that normally when police officials confront such situations they often fail to find a convincing conclusion or fail to convince the court beyond any scope of doubt.

But, the Canadian police force was different. They took an unconventional method to untie the knots: the police observed the social media platforms of the victim and culprit.

When the investigators went through their social media platform, they stepped into a normal- but helpful- selfie. Surprisingly, the selfie which invited the special attention of the investigators was actually the one which had all information which the investigators were searching for; they found the weapon used by the culprit to do the crime in the selfie in which the weapon was seen tied with the dress the culprit was wearing.

The culprit was found guilty in the case and was sentenced to nearly seven year imprisonment.
