Tennessee executes man who killed his wife 35 years ago

Don Johnson,68, a Tennessee inmate was pronounced dead at 7:37pm at a maximum security prison in Nashvillle. He made headlines when he requested his last meal be donated to the homeless. His death was administered through a lethal injection.

The attendents reported that he recited a long prayer asking for forgiveness. The convict also asked permission to the warden if he could sing and sang two hymns.

Johnson was convicted of suffocating his wife, Connie Johnson, at a camping center he managed in Memphis. He initially blamed the murder on a work-release inmate who confessed to helping dispose of the body and who was granted immunity for testifying against Johnson.
