The Repercussions of an Uncompromising Rainfall

The South Indian state of Kerala has been facing the repercussions of an uncompromising rainfall for last few days.

Several transportation and electricity networks have been collapsed. Tens of thousands of people have been shifted to temporary shelters. The rain-related dangers of landslides and floods have become a common phenomenon.

Today, the Cochin International Airport Limited authorities have decided to shutdown the operations of the airport until this Saturday.

Last day, the state government called off the official Onam festivities because of the unexpected natural disaster.

Lately, as many as four thousand people live on the banks of the streams connected to the Mullaiperiyar dam have been shifted to some safe locations, as the dam has been forced to open almost all shutters.

Unfortunately, the hilly district of Wayand is, at present, almost completely detached from the rest of the state.

If something is protecting the state from falling into the deep pit of the miseries created by the uncompromising rainfall, it is the dedication and hard work of the national and state rescue operators, national and state government officials, social workers, common people, non-government organisation volunteers, selfless political personals and the India army.

Kerala must thank these devoted souls. They are the real heroes.
