An International campaign to fight workplace sexual harassment, “Time’s UP”, has been launched by a group of Hollywood actors, writers and directors.
Importantly, the movement not only tries to eliminate sexual harassment in the film industry but also puts serious effort to make all work places free from the unacceptable practice of sexual harassment.
The campaign primarily aims to give financial assistance to those victims who are struggling to fight the sexual harassment cases in the courts due to their incapability to accumulate the money required to pay to the lawyers and other legal requirements.
Most of those who become the victims of this criminal practice in the workplaces are those belonging to financially backward section. So, in most cases, even though the victims overcome the emotional burden mercilessly showered over them by the male-dominated society, they often stumble over the heavy financial burden created by such cases.
The campaign has already accumulated a huge sum of thirteen million US dollars to fund their programs.
The movement has been initiated in the wake of growing sexual harassment cases in the workplaces, such as entertainment workplaces.
The report about such a movement have been initially publicised by the New York Times in the form a full page advertisement.
