Trudeau again in Canada

It is almost clear that Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will get one more chance to rule the country.

As the counting session of the Canadian election has almost completely, Mr. Trudeau’s Liberal Party has emerged as the single largest party in the parliament.

But, all is not well for the PM. Though his party has gained the top post, it has failed to cross the majority line. At present, Mr Trudeau’s party is at least fourteen seats away from the majority line.

Unexpectedly, the main rival of the Liberals, the Conservatives, has made huge gains in the election. They have considerably increased their total number of seats in the parliament, compared to what they attained in the previous election.

Now, in terms of the total number of seats in the Canadian parliament, the difference between the Conservatives and Liberals is too small. It is less than 20 now.

Anyway, the result is a boon to the New Democratic Party, which is led by Indian-origin leader Jagmeet Singh.

What the minority government means is that the left-leaning NDP will have greater say in the government.

Many Liberals have expressed their happiness in the trust the people of the country have put in their leader. Meanwhile, they have not shied away from sharing their concerns over the lack of a comfortable majority too.

The result is not a surprise. Most of the exit poll predictions are in favour of the Liberals.
