Concerned over the increase in tension between India and its neighbour, Pakistan, the United Nations chief, Ban Ki-moon has reportedly offered to act as a mediator. As per the report, the UN General urged both nations to take appropriate measures to de-escalate the tension generated between them due to the recent developments. In a statement released by the United Nations, it extensively expressed their concerns and fear over the issue.
The shocking fact is that both nations are nuclear-armed nations. Experts believe that the unnecessary provocation and irresponsible dialogues will lead to a big disaster. In the wake of this situation, the United Nations requested both nations to exercise maximum restraint. It further advised that the disturbed nations must solve their issues responsibly through a proper diplomatic channel. Earlier, this week, the Indian army had conducted a surgical strike across the LOC shattering almost all the terrorist establishment near the border.
The unexpected strike from the Indian side came a day after the terrible terror attack by the Pakistan terror organisation on the Indian army camp in Uri near Kashmir. Nearly eighteen innocent soldiers were brutally killed in the terrorist attack allegedly organised by the JeM. Later, the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, asserted that the Indian army will surely punish the perpetrators of the attack.
Anyway, now, the United Nations has suddenly intervened to avoid a potential disaster. There is already a permeant institution established by the UN in the LOC to report all provocations and violations. But, it seems that the institution is largely irrelevant now.
