Dismissing the anti-Taj Mahal statement made by Uttar Pradesh BJP Member of Legislative Assembly Sangeet Som, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has asserted that the government is obliged to conserve the historic monument.

Earlier, the Sardhana MLA provocatively alleged that the Taj Mahal was built by tyrants who aimed to destroy the Hindus of the state.

Notably, the UP chief has shown no interest to state the historical relevance of the monument. Instead, Mr Yogi has tried to focus on the architectural value of the historic building which was constructed by the Mughals.

Some claims that had the UP CM acknowledged the cultural importance of the monument it would have sent a secular message.

They add that by showing no interest in denouncing the illogical statement raised by his party’s MLA the UP supremo has indirectly approved the irrational statement which has potential to hurt a section of the society.

They further add that those who occupy responsible positions should not behave irresponsibly.

The CM is set to visit the historic city of Agra where the Taj Mahal is situated on October 26. At this moment, it is not clear whether he will visit the historic monument or not.
