In his final visit to the Europe before leaving the top chair, the United States’ president, Barack Obama, has raised strong statements regarding the globalisation and transatlantic trade. Last day, the US president reached Germany after visiting Athens. While giving a joint statement after the meeting, the US supremo and his German counterpart, Angela Merkel, were very vocal about the globalisation. They reportedly asserted that in this new era, the cooperation between the countries is extremely vital. Earlier, while speaking at a function in Athens, he voiced concern about the threats faced by the modern democracy. Anyway, it seems that the Obama’s successor, Donald Trump, may not agree with his viewpoints.
Earlier, during the election campaigns, the US president-elect, Donald Trump, strongly criticised the global free trade agreement. Trump’s nationalistic views will stay odd with the globalisation and global free trade agreement. His election slogan itself was ‘make America great again’. It clearly indicates that the Republican is aiming to achieve some concrete changes. Meanwhile, some leftist groups organised a protest in Greece in order to express their disagreement on the Obama’s visit. It is learned that the US supremo will stay in the country until tomorrow. After that, he is expected to visit Peru. Experts assert that the introverted statements and policies suggested by the Republicans pose serious threats to the globalisation and EU-US relation. It is unlikely that the Republicans will relook the policy.
