The voting process has begun in two hundred and twenty-two of the total two hundred and twenty-four constituencies in the Indian state of Karnataka and will continue until six O’clock in the evening.
Over twenty-two per cent of the total votes have been casted already. If the things move in this phase, the voting per cent might hit a record high level.
R R Nagar and Jayanagar are the two constituencies where the voting process is not happening. The voting process in the Jayanagar constituency has been postponed due to the unexpected demise of sitting MLA and BJP candidate Vijay Kumar. Meanwhile, the voting process in the R R Nagar constituency has been cancelled because of the recovery of nearly nine thousand Election Identity Cards from a house located in the constituency.
The BJP, Congress and JD(S) are the powerful parties which are in the election fray. Of these three, the main opposition BJP and ruling Congress are more significant in the state, though the JD(S) with the support of the BSP and AIMIM poses a serious threat to the other two parties.
The result of the election will be declared on May 14. At this moment, it is not clear when the election for the seats which are not going to polls today will take place.
