Why Northern Ireland women feel they are second class citizens

Unlike rest of the United Kingdom, the North Ireland women have no choice on their pregnancy status. It is hard to believe that inside a liberal country like the United Kingdom, these is a region where the women cannot even access the abortion service. The abortion was always a heated top in the UK. The citizens of the Great Britain give more importance to the individual choices rather than the external pressure, so still the abortion is legal in the United Kingdom. So, why Northern Ireland women feel they are second class citizens? If you cannot enjoy a right, which is happily enjoyed by the rest of the people living in the same society that you live in, you will defiantly fell that you are treated as a second class or under privileged citizens. Here, a mother and her daughter approached the top court to get some clarity on the standard of the citizenship bestowed on them by the United Kingdom. They believe that if they have no choice to decide their pregnancy status it is irrelevant to consider that they are the real citizen of the Great Britain. The UK government extensively supports pro-choice views, and the England women have free access to NHS funded abortion service. But, the law of Northern Ireland does not permit the people living in the region to access the free abortion service provided by the UK government. The NI women who want to do an abortion have to travel a long distance since the service is not available in their region. These women often travel to regions like England and Whales. It is an expensive journey. The mental trauma caused due to this journey is extremely high, says the petitioner.     In the petition, the petitioners clearly explained the depth of the mental trauma faced by the NI women due to the issue by quoting their personal experience. However, the court has reserved the judgment in this case until a later date.
