Winter session of parliament begins today: opposition plans surgical strike on government over demonetisation

As the winter session of the parliament is set to begin today, the opposition parties, like TMC, congress, RJD, JDU, SP, BSP, and et al, is unanimously planning to conduct a surgical strike on the ruling BJP government over the demonetisation issue.Surprisingly, the prime NDA ally, Shiv Sena, decided to join the grand march scheduled to take place today. It is learned that the TMC chief and West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, would lead the march. It is said that several political parties would participate in the march to the Rashtrapati Bhavan, denouncing the demonetisation of the higher denomination notes. It is not yet clear what will be the opposition parties’ strategy in the parliament on the first day of the winter session. Experts claim that at this moment we can predict they would either demand a joint parliamentary committee probe or join the Rashtrapathi Bhavan march.

A source asserts that the BJP members would not oppose a motion demanding the discussion over the demonetisation. The experts added that if the BJP welcomes the motion, then the opposition parties would either try to corner the ruling party or join the Rashtrapathi Bhavan march. The latter has a little possibility as the Rashtrapathi Bhavan march would be organised by the TMC, the experts further added.Anyway, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi last day requested the support of all political parties on the demonetisation issue.
