The Zimbabwean president, Robert Mugabe, whose house has been besieged by the military, has expressed unwillingness to voluntarily step down from his position, which he has been enjoying for last few decades.

It seems that the veteran leader is in no mood to surrender before the ruthless manner in which a ‘regime change’ has been sought.

As per the International media report, he has told his decision to the negotiators who have come to meet him at the behest of the army, opposition and disgraced Vice-President Emmerson Mnangagwa, who is expected to form an interim government in the country soon after the formal declaration of the resignation with opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai.

The future of Mrs Grace Mugabe, for whom the Vice President was sacked by the Zimbabwean hero for clearing all paths to the induction of the First Lady as the next President, is in the stake, as the army led by General Constantino Chiwenga has asserted that it would arrest the criminals around the President.

Political observers say that the old leader is trying to buy more time for the formal resignation and is trying to gain assurances from the concerned that no harm will happen to the members of his family after his resignation.

Anyway, the United Nations, African Union and Southern African Development Community led by South Africa where several Zimbabwean escaped to during the 2008 financial crisis have directed the concerned to find a feasible solution to the crisis in a peaceful manner.
