A Lakewood roadside shooting leads to the arrest of an Aurora man

An Aurora man is being held on suspicion of first-degree murder after allegedly shooting and killing a guy who was panhandling on the side of the road.

Randy Jiron, 40, was located and apprehended by Lakewood Police, an Adams County SWAT squad, and the Strasburg Police Department.

At about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, witnesses claimed that Craig Bruce was begging for money on the northbound off-ramp at 6th and Simms when he approached a car and the driver shot him. Bruce was taken seriously ill and later passed away from his injuries.

Jiron was lodged in the Jefferson County prison, but his initial court hearing has not yet been scheduled.
