Iran’s Supreme Leader Downplays Impact of Missile Attack on Israel

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, dismissed discussions about the effectiveness of Iran’s unprecedented drone and missile assault on Israel, emphasizing the demonstration of Iran’s military resolve rather than the tactical outcome of the strikes. This statement came during a high-level military meeting broadcasted on state television, focusing on the broader implications rather than the specific results of the attack.

The attack on Israel, involving hundreds of drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles, aimed to penetrate Israeli defenses but was largely intercepted, with Israeli forces, supported by the US, UK, and Jordan, managing to neutralize most of the threats. Despite the extensive preparations and the scale of the attack, satellite images revealed only minor damage at targeted sites such as the Nevatim air base.

In his address, Khamenei did not comment on the recent retaliatory strikes by Israel in Isfahan and avoided detailing the ongoing military exchanges between Iran and Israel amidst the escalating conflict in the Gaza Strip. His speech highlighted the unity and commendable image of Iran’s armed forces, sidestepping the economic struggles and internal dissent within the country.
