Terror Attack in Boulder Injures Eight at Pro-Israel Demonstration

Eight people were injured in Boulder, Colorado, on Sunday when a man identified as 45-year-old Mohamed Soliman allegedly threw incendiary devices into a crowd during a peaceful demonstration in support of Israeli hostages held in Gaza. The attack occurred at Pearl Street Mall during a weekly event organized by Run for Their Lives. Authorities confirmed that the injured—four women and four men aged 52 to 88—were transported to local hospitals, with at least one victim in critical condition.

Law enforcement officials, including the FBI and Boulder Police, are treating the incident as a targeted act of terrorism and a potential hate crime. FBI Special Agent Mark Michalek and Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser both underscored the seriousness of the attack, linking it to antisemitic motives. Soliman, who was hospitalized after the attack, is believed to have acted alone. Eyewitnesses described chaotic scenes, with victims suffering visible burns and bystanders rushing to help.

The attack comes amid rising tensions in the U.S. over the Israel-Gaza conflict, which has fueled an increase in both antisemitic violence and contentious political rhetoric. Prominent leaders, including Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, condemned the attack, calling for stronger measures against antisemitism. Colorado Governor Jared Polis also expressed shock, stating it was “unfathomable” that the Jewish community faced another terror attack in Boulder.
