Lockheed Martin has agreed to acquire naval defense company Ultra Maritime from private equity firm Advent in a deal valued at $3.45 billion, Advent announced on Monday. The acquisition strengthens Lockheed Martin’s position in advanced naval defense technologies, particularly in anti-submarine warfare and undersea security.
Ultra Maritime is part of Cobham Ultra, a business formed after Advent acquired British aerospace company Cobham in 2019 and later combined it with Ultra Electronics following its takeover in 2022. The company specializes in anti-submarine warfare systems and undersea defense technologies used by naval forces worldwide.
Earlier this year, Ultra Maritime secured a development contract from the U.S. Navy for its underwater acoustic decoy system, designed to protect ships and submarines from torpedo threats. The acquisition is expected to enhance Lockheed Martin’s capabilities in maritime defense and expand its portfolio of advanced naval technologies.
