Trump to Host Crypto Executives as US Regulators Advance Digital Asset Rules

President Donald Trump is set to host cryptocurrency executives and industry representatives at the White House on Wednesday, as U.S. financial regulators move forward with plans to establish a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets. Senior officials including SEC Chair Paul Atkins and CFTC Chair Mike Selig are also expected to attend the meeting.

The meeting comes as Trump’s administration pursues crypto-friendly policies and the Securities and Exchange Commission moves to ease rules governing certain token offerings. The SEC on Tuesday proposed rules that could exempt some token issuances from securities regulations, potentially making it easier for crypto companies to raise funds. Meanwhile, the CFTC is scheduled to discuss cryptocurrency regulation at an industry gathering on Thursday.

Trump’s close ties to the crypto industry are likely to remain a focus of scrutiny. Reuters/Ipsos polling found that a majority of Americans believe Trump and his family have improperly benefited from the sector and that his policy decisions may be influenced by private business interests. Trump has said he has no day-to-day role in his family’s crypto ventures and that his investments are independently managed, while the White House has rejected allegations of wrongdoing.
