Delos Data Raises $100 Million to Accelerate AI Data Center Networking

Delos Data, a startup founded by former Intel Corp veterans, has raised $100 million to develop chips and software designed to move data faster within increasingly complex artificial intelligence data centers. The company aims to help data center operators improve communication between different types of computing chips as AI infrastructure evolves beyond traditional GPU-based systems.

During the early stages of the AI boom, data centers were dominated largely by Nvidia GPUs connected through Nvidia’s proprietary networking technology. However, the growing use of AI agents to handle tasks for users is driving demand for a wider range of computing architectures, giving rivals such as Cerebras Systems and Advanced Micro Devices greater opportunities. Nvidia has also expanded its portfolio to include multiple types of computing chips.

Delos Data has developed networking chips and software intended to allow different computing systems to communicate efficiently, regardless of the mix of chips used by data center operators. Chief Technology Officer and co-founder Dan Daly said the company can provide a fast and flexible way to move data despite uncertainty over the future architecture of agentic AI. Former Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger, now a partner at Playground, which participated in the funding round, said inefficient communication between computing chips can leave expensive hardware consuming power while waiting for data. Other investors included Matrix Partners, Socratic Partners, Capricorn, Matter Venture Partners, IAG and DYNAMIQ.
