TotalEnergies Expands US Renewable Energy Venture with KKR in $1.2 Billion Deal

TotalEnergies said on Monday that it is expanding its joint venture with investment firm KKR in the United States through the addition of a renewable energy portfolio valued at $1.2 billion. The deal includes three utility-scale solar assets located in Texas and Ohio, adding 700 megawatts of capacity to the partnership established in 2025.

The expansion will increase the joint venture’s total renewable energy capacity from 1.4 gigawatts to 2.1 gigawatts. The three solar projects are expected to begin commercial operations by the first quarter of 2027. Electricity generated by the assets has already been contracted to third parties or will be marketed by TotalEnergies.

The transaction is expected to be completed in 2026, with TotalEnergies continuing to operate the solar assets after the deal closes. The expansion underscores the company’s continued investment in renewable energy infrastructure in the United States, strengthening its presence in the country’s growing solar power market.
