Apollo Launches €10 Billion European Credit Platform to Support Regional Investments

Global asset management firm Apollo has launched a €10 billion European credit platform, aiming to capitalise on rising demand for private financing as Europe increases investments in defence, energy and infrastructure. Named the European Credit Company (ECC), the platform will provide corporate and asset-backed lending to companies, private equity sponsors and real asset owners, according to the company.

The launch comes amid rapid growth in the global private credit market, with Moody’s forecasting that assets under management will exceed $2 trillion in 2026 and approach $4 trillion by 2030. ECC has secured backing from several major financial institutions and investors, including the Abu Dhabi Investment Council, European insurance group Athora, Japan’s Norinchukin Bank, UK-based Standard Chartered and US alternative investment firm Aranda.

Headquartered across key European financial centres, ECC has a presence in Frankfurt, Jersey, London, Luxembourg City and Milan. The platform will be led by Chief Executive Officer Giacomo Petrobelli and Chairman Christian Meissner, while leveraging Apollo’s wider investment network. Petrobelli described the initiative as an opportunity to mobilise global capital to finance Europe’s long-term growth and development priorities.
