Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, known in the tech world as “Woz,” has been hospitalized in Mexico, according to multiple reports. The 73-year-old tech pioneer was in Mexico City attending the World Business Forum (WBF), a prominent business conference when he reportedly fainted during the event on Wednesday afternoon. The cause of his hospitalization remains unclear at this time. Wozniak, who co-founded Apple with Steve Jobs in 1976 and played a pivotal role in inventing the first Apple computer, has been an influential figure in the world of technology and artificial intelligence.
Wozniak, a vocal advocate for responsible AI development, had previously joined Elon Musk in signing a letter in March calling for a pause in the development of powerful artificial intelligence models. He expressed concerns about the potential misuse of AI technology by “bad actors” and emphasized the need for AI regulation. Despite his call for responsible AI development, Wozniak also expressed skepticism about the effectiveness of regulatory efforts, noting that financial interests often prevail in the tech industry. Representatives of Mr. Wozniak have not yet provided official comments on his hospitalization, and more details are awaited.
