An Arizona man, Manuel Tamayo-Torres, was arrested this week after allegedly posting a series of threatening videos online, including one in which he brandished an AR-15-style rifle and made violent threats against President-elect Donald Trump and his family. According to federal court documents, Tamayo-Torres posted videos “on a near-daily basis,” in which he accused Trump and his family of kidnapping and sex-trafficking his children. One video, filmed during a Trump rally in Glendale, Arizona, depicted him holding a rifle and issuing a vague, menacing threat.
On November 13, Tamayo-Torres posted a Facebook video in which he threatened Trump, saying he would pursue him after a shot was fired from his rifle. Later, on November 21, he posted another video stating that Trump’s “whole family is going to die” and making further derogatory remarks. Authorities said Tamayo-Torres’ online activity led to charges of making threats against the president-elect, as well as multiple counts of making false statements during the purchase of a firearm.
Tamayo-Torres, who has a criminal history including a 2003 felony assault conviction, was arrested in Southern California on Monday. He now faces charges related to threatening the president-elect and unlawful firearm transactions. The suspect’s lawyer has not yet responded to requests for comment.
