Suzanne Somers, renowned for her iconic role as Chrissy Snow in the hit 1970s sitcom “Three’s Company,” has sadly passed away following a protracted battle with cancer. She died at her home just one day before her 77th birthday, as confirmed by her publicist R. Couri Hay. In a statement, Hay shared that Suzanne was surrounded by her family during her final moments, and they had gathered to celebrate her upcoming birthday. Instead, they now plan to celebrate her remarkable life and extend their gratitude to her millions of adoring fans.
Suzanne Somers, best known for her portrayal of Chrissy Snow, expressed in a 2020 interview that creating her character was an intellectual endeavor. She aimed to make Chrissy likable and loveable, imbuing her with a moral code. Her time on “Three’s Company” came to an end when she asked for a salary on par with her co-star, the late John Ritter. This request led to her dismissal from the show, as she revealed in 2020, citing the substantial gender pay gap at the time.
Later in her life, Suzanne transitioned into a health advocate and achieved substantial success by marketing products like the Thighmaster and authoring diet books. However, her life was marked by health challenges, including her battles with melanoma in her 30s and breast cancer in her 50s. She had been quite open about her health journey, even revealing her recurrence of breast cancer in August, which she continued to confront through a combination of alternative and conventional treatments. A private burial is scheduled for this week, with a memorial to take place next month in her honor. Suzanne Somers’ passing leaves behind a legacy cherished by fans and a deep appreciation for her contributions to the entertainment health and wellness worlds.
