On Wednesday, a 17-year-old student opened fire on two administrators at East High School in Denver, Colorado. The student then fled the scene, and during the search for him, a body was found in the woods near his vehicle. While authorities did not immediately identify the body as that of the suspect, the county coroner later confirmed it was Austin Lyle, the teen who authorities had earlier said was the shooter.
Park County Sheriff Tom McGraw expressed relief that they had “solved the problem” and assured local residents that the situation was over. However, he did not disclose how the person whose body was found had died.
One of the victims, Jerald Mason, has been released from the hospital, while the other, Eric Sinclair, remains in serious condition at Denver Health. The police had earlier posted Lyle’s picture on social media after identifying him as the gunman.
