GFL Environmental Nears C$6 Billion Deal to Acquire Secure Waste Infrastructure

Waste management firm GFL Environmental is reportedly close to acquiring Secure Waste Infrastructure in a deal valued at over C$6 billion ($4.33 billion), according to a Bloomberg News report citing a source familiar with the matter. The companies have not yet responded to media queries, and Reuters has not independently verified the development.

The proposed transaction is expected to be structured with approximately 20% cash and 80% stock, with an indicative offer price of around C$24.50 per share. This represents a premium of nearly 15% compared to Secure Waste’s last closing price on Friday, signaling a significant valuation boost for the Calgary-based company.

Secure Waste Infrastructure operates an extensive network of processing, recovery, and disposal facilities across Western Canada and North Dakota. The potential acquisition follows GFL Environmental’s recent purchase of Frontier Waste Solutions, as the company continues to expand its footprint in the North American waste management and environmental services sector.
