India declines Maldives offer to send ‘Special Envoy’ to discuss ‘unrest’

The Indian government, which is unhappy with the growing developments in the Indian Ocean Country of Maldives, has declined embattled Island country’s Prime Minister Abdulla Yameen’s offer to send special envoy to Delhi to discuss the political unrest in the country which recently announced the state of emergency.

The move indicates the growing uncertainties in the India’s relation with its distant neighbour, Maldives.

The Maldives government, which initiated a violent military crackdown after the declaration of emergency, has invited serious criticism from the International human rights organisations and several political powers including India.

It is clear that India is of the opinion that the Maldives government should address the internal issue internally before reaching the external forces in an attempt to seek their intervention to resolve the Island country’s internal issue.

It is learned that the Maldives government has already sent their representatives (special envoys) to China, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan (to the countries which it considers as the friendly country).

Recently, the persecuted opposition leader of Maldives requested the intervention of the Indian military in the crisis.

The political crisis in the Island nation began a couple of days before with the controversial arrest of the Maldives Chief Justice and some judges.
