India has been a victim of terrorism: Trump

In his speech at the Riyad Summit, President of United States Donald trump said that India was among the nations that have been victims of terrorist attacks. He also specified that the Arab, Muslim & Middle Eastern Nations were hit hardest due to the violent terrorist attacks as the death toll was highest in these nations.  “Few nations have been spared the violent reach of terrorism. America has suffered repeated barbaric attacks from the atrocities of September 11 to the devastation of the Boston bombings to the horrible killings in San Bernardino and Orlando. The nations of Europe have also endured unspeakable horror. So too have the nations of Africa and South America. India, Russia, China, and Australia have all been victims,” he said.

He mentioned the fact that about a third of the victims were also followers of Islam. The speech was the highlight of Trumps first over-seas visit. The Saudi king also felicitated him with the highest civilian honour. He stated that the fight against terrorism was a fight between “good and evil” and not one between the west and Islam. In a meeting  with over 50 Arab and Muslim leaders, Trump sought to create a  new course in Americas role in the middle Eastern region, one which will help fight against terrorism, with less focus on human rights and democratic reforms. Trump also brought with him a slew of business agreements and also $110 billion arms package for his hosts aimed at strengthening Saudi security.
