Kumaraswamy sworn in as Karnataka CM

Like the unexpected climax of an exciting suspense thriller, JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy has been sworn in as the Chief Minister of the South Indian state of Karnataka.

Since the declaration of the Karnataka Assembly Election result, the state has been witnessing several twists and turns –from the post-poll alliance of Congress and JD(S) to the resignation of B S Yeddyurappa who formed a government hours after the announcement of the result.

Political observers believe that the post-poll alliance reached between the parties which wish to obstruct the BJP’s triumph has provided adequate impetus to the efforts of the anti-Saffron parties towards the formation of an grand anti-BJP coalition to mitigate the strengthen of the BJP, which has been slowly swallowing all powers since its inception at the helm of the central government.

The top leaders belonging to several anti-BJP parties have participated in the JD(S) Chief Ministerial candidate’s induction ceremony.

The oath of office has been administered by Karnataka Governor Vajubhai Vala today on the steps of the Vidhana Soudha.

It is the second time the JD(S) leader has been inducted as the CM of the state. Earlier, during 2006-2007, he led a government which was formed by his party with the support of the BJP.
